Preliminary Engineering Report for Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Design

Undergraduate civil and environmental engineering students Jessica Grant, Sarah Nelson (WVWRI student worker), and Alexandra Schultz partnered with the Buckhannon River Watershed Association to design a potential solution to the wastewater challenges faced by one of many small, rural communities today.

Catfish Creek: A Story of Washington, PA

Kara Meadows partnered with the Washington County Watershed Alliance to help develop next-generation creek crossing signs to provide information about indigenous history, commercial history, geographical/geological context, and environmental degradation and restoration information regarding Catfish Creek.

Contextualization of the Monongahela River

|

Victoria Nist, Lauren Campbell, and Tatum Wamsley, students in Multi-Disciplinary Studies 489, combined the past history and present data of the Monongahela River in a project for Headwaters to the Ohio Network.

Deep Creek Lake Sediment Study

|

WVU undergraduate Erica Koeplin is assessing sediment sources that are a risk to water quality in Deep Creek Lake. Her research will be able to provide recommendations for limiting sediment entering the water body.

Mycoremediation of Acid Mine Drainage using Pleurotus ostreatus Fungus

Ever wondered what locally grown mushrooms can do for waterways impacted by acid mine drainage? Jay Clark partnered with Buckhannon River Watershed Association and Mushrooms are Your Allies (MAYA) to assess the impact of Pleurotus ostreatus on water quality.

Becoming a Watershed Champion

Hannah Blakely and Guardians of the West Fork partnered up to create a plan on how individuals living in the West Fork Watershed can minimize stormwater runoff and pollution leaving their property.
