Andrew Indomenico, a member of the class of 2025 and a philosophy major, created a StoryMap for a project evaluating a watershed-scale approach to treating acid mine drainage (AMD) in the Muddy Creek watershed of Preston County, WV. The study examined the effectiveness and efficiency of centralized AMD treatment in the watershed and compared the costs and benefits of watershed-scale remediation with those of point-source remediation methods. The StoryMap highlights improvements in Muddy Creek and communicates how effective a watershed-scale approach can be, both financially and in terms of water-quality improvement.
